The Future of SEO- Unchartered waters that we can’t wait to explore!
As the Internet expands and grows day by day, it’s a given that marketing techniques born from the monetization of the online blogosphere will evolve too! Initially, SEO was thought of as some sought of advanced system that only tech nerds could handle. In fact, businesses were barely investing in SEO, or taking it seriously for that matter! Fast forward to 2018, and it’s estimated that businesses will spend close to $70 billion before this new year ends. If that isn’t growth, then we don’t know what is!
Putting it simply, SEO has come a long away, and it’s only a matter of time before we begin actualizing how big it can get. The best we can do now is hypothesize; where will SEO be headed in the next couple of years? As search engines continue to update their bots as well as algorithms, what will become of the SEO setup that is currently in place? Here are our educated guesses as to the path that SEO will take in the next couple of years.
User Interface will be a large part of it
Initially, SEO was thought to be something that the IT department could handle on their own. In fact, it was thought to be a technical role that required extensive technical elements in order for techniques to be executed. And no wonder companies barely paid any attention to it! But today, it’s safe to say that it’s a whole different ball game. In fact, to be deemed a qualified SEO professional, you need to have both a technical understanding of the analytics around SEO as well as the know-how of optimizing websites to improve interaction with web users.
Yep, it seems pretty tough, but you’ve got to understand the dynamics of today’s search engine prioritization. Search engines like Google have become obsessed with the user. In fact, it’s all about what the user has searched, and finding the most relevant pages that provide a definitive answer to these questions. That’s why it’s becoming increasingly important for businesses to invest time and money in learning the pattern and behavior of their customers and clients as well as online users, and determine how to better engage with them. As this trend continues to grow, we can only fathom how user-oriented SEO techniques will be trendy in the next couple of years!
Mobile will eventually take the lions share
As we speak, the online mobile revolution is expanding every day. In fact, so impactful has the mobile boom been that Google had to change its initial single index of documents when it came to answering search questions. Now, there’s an index for mobile as well as desktop; with mobile taking the lead as the primary index.
And the proof is in the pudding. More than half of all of Google’s search queries came from mobile last year. And what’s more interesting is that most of these searches are also relying on speed rather than what the content of the website is. For example, if the first ranked website takes its sweet time to load, a user will opt for the second option in the event that it has a much faster response speed.
And with more people relying on mobile phones for their day-to-day lives, it’s only a matter of time before Google fully embraces the mobile as the only index for their search queries. Wouldn’t that be an interesting setup? We wonder what will happen to all the desktop die-hards out there. Will they eventually switch to mobile for improved search queries? Only time will tell!
AI will be the mastermind behind rankings
It was only a couple of months back that Google announced the introduction of RankBrain, which is an early stage AI search. Even though it’s miles away from what we imagine the future AI will be, it’s definitely a great start. Not only will this make website creators do a credible job when it comes to creating content, but they will have to tailor it to precisely meet the user’s needs. Don’t you think this will result in higher quality output as well as user satisfaction? This will subsequently increase the credibility of the internet as a means of relaying information. So call it a win-win for both parties!
For now, we can only imagine in our wildest dreams what the future holds for SEO. But from our point of view, it looks pretty bright! And hopefully, it will revolutionize the Internet to be more than just an online platform for information exchange; it will be an avenue for improving every aspect of our lives!
