Step 5: Project Multi-Year Savings and Build Your ROI Case
Storage demand grows every year. Apply your data growth rate from Step 1 to future capacity projections, then run the same deduplication ratios against those larger volumes. Calculate accumulated savings at the 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year marks – that compounding curve is where the business case becomes undeniable.
Set the total projected savings against the investment required for the deduplication solution: new storage hardware with built-in deduplication or a software license. That ratio is your ROI. Teams that run this analysis before procurement win faster budget approval because they are speaking the language of finance, not technology – and they can defend every number in the model.
