Everybody hates spam … not the meat(?) but the crap emails that fill up your inbox.

I particularly hate the spam emails about SEO and how your website is so horribly constructed that you will never be able to rank for anything (we’re website developers, too, so it’s a double-whammy).  I had a client email me today.  She forwarded me an email from a “Google Certified Expert” who claimed to have been helping companies for over six year … blah, blah, blah.

Of course, the email was not from a company domain name (as any legitimate business would be … it was a Gmail address).  Now, this wasn’t just a generic text email (well, it was, but …), it had a wrinkle to it.  They included a link to the W3.org validator for the customer’s website.

I hate the w3.org validator.  I think it’s garbage, and one of the most misleading websites on the Internet.

So I replied back to my customer with information about her site.  We finished the website over 2 years ago and she still ranks at the top of Google for all of the phrases in her area!  That’s what a solid, well-constructed Google-friendly website will do for you!

Oh, and as for the w3 garbage machine?  I sent her this link (https://validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F).  This is a link that shows what the W3 validator thinks of the Google.com webpage.  Now … I don’t know about you, but I would think that the folks at Google would know a thing or two about how to properly construct a website.  By looking at this W3 report, you’d think that the the site was written by a 3 year old.  Just further validation that the W3 validator is a piece of crap!

So, please … don’t let a spam email with a link to a garbage website like the W3 validator scare you into thinking that your website is set to self-implode.  Check with your tech folks to see if there are truly any major issues with your website and trust the folks with whom you’ve been working — or who have a solid reputation — instead of a random email from “Duke” at some random email address!
